United Way of Greater Newark will be relaunching its Women United of Greater Newark network. This collective of women leaders, advocates, and changemakers are on a mission to support Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, also known as ALICE, households in overcoming financial hardship. Alongside United Way of Greater Newark, the Women United of Greater Newark network is hoping to help 157,000 families move from financial instability to financial security by 2028.
“Organization and advocacy are essential to creating meaningful change in our community, and Women United of Greater Newark is leading the charge to restore financial stability in our city,” said Catherine Wilson, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Newark. “Together, we are helping to build a future where financial hardship is replaced with financial confidence, empowering individuals and families across our community to thrive.”
“For every dollar invested, hour volunteered and connection made through the Women United network, the Greater Newark community moves closer to a future where families have the tools necessary to build generational wealth,” said Maria Vizcarrondo, chair of Women United of Greater Newark. “I look forward to working alongside such incredible women leaders to make our community a better place.”
Women United is building a community where everyone can afford to save for an emergency, access affordable, quality childcare and have the opportunity to achieve their potential in the workplace. As part of a global movement of 70,000+ women strong spanning across 165 communities, local action has a global reach.
